[INSIST::Indonesian Society for Social Transformation]

M e m b e r s

The members of INSIST are the primary constituents of INSIST, and are the supreme holders of sovereignty or authorities of the organization, with the mechanisms that are arranged and structured in the General Assembly or Special General Assembly as stipulated in the Statutory Act.

As a confederation, members of INSIST are:

  • A group of autonomous and independent organizations --whether they have legal bodies or not, depending on their own goals and needs when they were established-- who exist in Indonesia and have the same vision, mission, basic principles, and concerns. The formation of the group is based on their geographical location and long time record of working together as a network, consortium or federation (also referred to as a 'community') representing three different or particular functions:

    • as a group of professional consultants or researchers assisting local organizations or communities to improve their capacities to deal with social issues or social transformation processes in their respective areas;

    • as a group of community organizers or popular educators working directly with local communities, providing facilities and educational resources or information centers, known as “People’s Schools” for their respective communities; and

    • as an intermediary group for fundraising or giving grants to support local organizations and communities in their respective areas.

  • Selected individuals who are associated in the Forum INSIST. The Forum itself is not a legal entity but has an equal position as those organizations and institutions which are members of INSIST.

MEMBERSHIP STATUS

The status of membership of INSIST as a confederation is divided into two categories:

  • Full-member -- organizations that have been accepted and authorized by the General Assembly, and have been involved actively in various activities with INSIST;

  • Associate member --organizations that participate in various activities with INSIST for a certain period for orientation, as arranged in the Statutory Act regarding the requirements for membership.
