Structure & Mechanism
The structure, mechanisms and organizational apparatuses of INSIST consist of five main pillars:
GENERAL ASSEMBLY -- the supreme holder of authority in INSIST attended by all members of the Board of Trustees, the Board of Supervisors, and the Board of Executives as stipulated in Chapter 10 (1) of the Statutory Act of INSIST;
BOARD of TRUSTEES -- a pool of trusted persons elected or appointed by their respective organizations as representatives at the highest level of policy and decision making of INSIST, i.e. the General Assembly. It is their responsibilty to organize the General Assembly once every three years to request accountability reports from the Executive Board based on the report of the Board of Supervisors. They also function as an advisory council for all organizational members of INSIST as well as a dispute resolution body, if any, among the members.
BOARD of SUPERVISORS -- the holder of the mandate of the General Assembly or the Special General Assembly. Members are elected by consensus or by voting in the General Assembly or Special General Assembly. The Board of Supervisors conduct general audits and supervise the implementation of strategic policies of INSIST as a whole. They also conduct special audits and supervise the membership and code of ethics of the organization as stipulated in the Chapter 17 (3) of the Statutory Act;
BOARD of EXECUTIVES -- the Executive Body that holds the mandate of the Board of Trustees to implement basic and strategic policies that have been decided by the General Assembly or the Special General Assembly. Members are elected by consensus or by voting in the General Assembly or Special General Assembly. Operating under the Executive Board is the General Secretariat, or the Daily Executive Body, namely the operational apparatus of the Executive Board, chaired directly by the Secretary of the Executive Board or the General Secretary;
COUNCIL of EDCUATION & DEVELOPMENT -- In the implementation of their tasks, the Executive Board or General Secretariat is assisted by the Council of Education & Development, an operational apparatus of the Executive Board, responsible for the formulation, development and strategic implementation or actualization of thoughts, ideas, and policies on social transformation.
The Second General Assembly of INSIST, 22-24 February 2008, have decided the new members and composition of INSIST's Board of Trustees 2008-2011. The General Assembly have also decided several changes of the First Statue of INSIST which, among others, received an amendment that members of the Board of Trustees no longer representing each organizational member but the 'community' (federation of organizational members). Each 'community' sends 3 persons as their collective representatives into the Board of Trustees as follows:
♦ Representing the Community of Yogyakarta-Solo (Mitra Tani, LPTP, YPRI): Santoso Adji, as Chairperson of the Board; Baiquni, as Member; and Mochtar Abbas, as Member ♦ Representing the Community of Salemba, Jakarta (REMDEC, YSIK, Praxis): Suhartini Hadad, as Member; Zumrotin K.Susilo, as Member; and Wilarsa Budiharga, as Member ♦ Representing the Community of Baileo Maluku (DMM, SRM, MICROS): Christina Elizabeth Marantika, as Member; Martinus J.Saptenno, as Member; and Paulina Uktolseja, as Member ♦ Representing the Community of Nusa Tenggara & Bali (KAWANUSA, Swadeshi, Triwikrama): will be decided later (before June 2008) by an internal meeting of the three organizations ♦ Representing INSISTPress as publishing house of the confederation of INSIST as a whole: Nena Lam'anah, as Member.
At the end of the General Assembly, the Board of Trustees have their own plenary meeting and decided the new composition and members of the INSIST's Board of Supervisor 2008-2011, as follows:
♦ Roy Tjiong (Chairperson), responsible for the coordination of general audits and supervision, the administration of policies and programs, and the fulfilment of the code of ethics and social accountability ♦ Delima Kiswanti (Member), responsible for management and financial accountability; and ♦ Amir Sutoko (Member), responsible for membership discipline and accountability to constituents (grassroots communities and partners.)
The Board of Trustees also have decided the new composition and members of the INSIST's Board of Executive 2008-2011 as follows:
♦ Ahmad Mahmudi (Chairperson), as general coordinator and consolidating the confederation of INSIST in general as a network; ♦ Roem Topatimasang (Vice Chairperson), responsible for initiating new areas of work and new members of INSIST and Editor in Chief of INSISTPress; ♦ Saleh Abdullah (First Secretary), particularly responsible for coordinating all of cooperation with other institutions, especially with partner organizations and supporters abroad; and ♦ Etik Mei Wati (Second Secretary), particularly responsible for internal management of the INSIST's Secretariat in Jogyakarta, and the services for all organizations member of INSIST.
COUNCIL OF EDUCATION & DEVELOPMENT
Soon after the General Assembly, the Board of Executives have their own meeting and decided the new composition and members of the INSIST's Council of Education and Development consists of a Core Team and a Pool of Resource Persons, as follows:
